"The Atlanta audition for NBC's America's Got Talent Show"
By Jay Anthony Terry
The audition in Atlanta was a success for me!
After an arduous journey through the casting "Cattle Call" process it came down to myself and ten others standing on an X in a room facing judges. The experience was excruciating at times but none the less enlightening. My lovely wife/manager was the consumate publicist and it was amazing watching her do her PR stuff. Thank you all sooo very much for your kind words and encouragment. I'm the most fortunate man on this planet to have so many loving people in my life. I felt each and every one of you there with me.
FYI... the NBC people would not elaborate following the audition except to say that call backs for round #2 would not come until February 15, after the tapes are reviewed in Los Angeles. Whether or not I'm selected, my hearts soars with gratitude for the opportunity to perform along side so many talented performers... and I will follow up with future opportunities. Thanks again for staying tuned here at yourjaxmusic.com and on my facebook "Cafe Groove" & Jay A. Terry page.

Stay Tuned Studios: Rehearse Without Worry
By YourJax MusicDon and Tanya of Stay Tuned are the kind of people you immediately like when you meet them. Their facilities and the services they provide are top notch, but what really impresses me is their passion and support of the music scene.
We want to help them get the word out that Stay Tuned is an affordable and comfortable place for bands, singers, songwriters, and aspiring musicians to practice. I don't know how many times I've had the cops called on me in the past. I really wish they would start making apartments sound proof one day. If anyone's reading this that can change that please do! Although I no longer live in a an apartment, most of us start out renting when venture out in this wild and crazy world. And if you're a musician, you're screwed. Not only are you broke, but your neighbors hate you. If you're a drummer, I feel for you.
Here are my favorite things about Stay Tuned.
It's clean. I remember a rehearsal place in Fayetteville, NC that was a dump. It took at least an hour to get used to the smell.
It's air conditioned. I don't know about you, but my experience is that at least one of your band mates is going to have really bad hygiene skills. Last thing you want to do is smell 'em sweating. Plus we live in Florida. It get's HOT in the summer. Heat and humitidy are not good for instruments or your underwear.
It's affordable. They didn't coin the term "Starving Artist" for no reason. Whatever your creative passion - the tools of your trade are expensive. This is especially true for musicians. And unless you have platinum albums hanging on your wall or a trust fund, chances are, the only six figures you have is on your odometer. What you make in the tip jar can cover your fees at Stay Tuned. Plus if you have a band, get the rest of your broke-ass compadres to chip in then BAM! suddenly this works and doesn't cut into your dollar menu date night you got lined up tonight.
Every room has equipment. Drummers listen up. They have drums! Save your back. They also have amps available. If your a guitarist with a short-term memory and you show up without your axe. They rent guitars as well. If you're a a prospective guitar student and haven't yet bought your guitar this is a great way to get started on lessons while you figure out what your instrument of choice will be.
Presentation. I'm sorry but it's true. Presentation is key. The place is nice and comfortable because they didn't just slap some paint on the wall, throw in a drum kit and say "Have at it, kids!" Each room is nicely furnished and tastefully staged. This is the kind of place you can host a special event and invite guests to watch you perform comfortably. And most importantly, in a climate controlled, clean, affordable and well equipped room :-). Studio E is perfect for showcases.
We've hosted our intro segments for an episode of YourJax Music at their facilities. I'm excited to mention that we will be taping an entire episode (performances and all) at Stay Tuned. The details have not yet been worked out but we'll be sure to announce the news when the time comes.

Bands Have Been Selected
By YourJax Music
We've received over 100 submissions since our previous review
session. This week we finally sat down to vote on them.
We were unable to finish going through all of them, but we've made
a dent in the stack.
I want to give a Shout Out, to the "judges", which included Tracy Collins of Jacksonville.com, Don from Stay Tuned Studios, Will Hendley from EU Jacksonville, Grant from Fusebox, plus the CW17 staff, their friends and guests.
I'm not ready to go into the list of the upcoming artists until after I've had a chance to contact them and schedule their performances. I am also holding off on contacting them until we have a couple of details worked out on our end.
In the past, we had the bands come here to CW17 Studios to tape them. We had to schedule during normal business hours and use our staff and the bands mics and equipment to make it happen. Moving forward we want to take the show to the next level and get the performances produced in front of a crowd, off-campus at a venue. We also want to take the responsibilities and strain off of our staff, who are all awesome and multi-talented, but our station is the under-dog of Jacksonville. As such we have a small group that each have multiple jobs as it is. Also, we had a long term vision of the show that we want to baby step towards and this is part of that process. We have several things in the works which I do not want to announce until we're ready. So I don't want to contact the bands and music artists to schedule tapings until I can provide them specific details.
If you (or a friend) would like to be considered for the show, please create a profile and post your music and videos here. Feel free to shoot me a message too. We will be scouring this site for upcoming artists to feature.
Once again, thanks to all of you that make up the community of musicians and artists of our area.

YourJax Music Submissions Selections
By YourJax Music
Due to the Holidays and the sheer number of projects around CW17 we
have fallen behind on selecting new local bands to feature on the
show. Today we are finally having our long overdue
submissions review session.
The way it works is we invite staff and special guests to join us at CW17 and we go through all of the requests that have come in and listen. I tally the votes for "Yay" or "Nay" for each artist. Then in the days following I email/call all of the ones that got majority votes to begin scheduling them to schedule a taping.
In the beginning I tried to contact everybody back, even if they weren't selected to let them know and to ask them to try again. I will try my best to contact everyone, but I can't promise that I will.
We will start with this website and look at the new profiles for artists that have not been on the show before. If we like what we here and you get majority vote we will be contacting you! After we go through the website we'll go through the emails and press kits. It's a fun process and I like hearing the diverse talent in the area. If you do not hear from us don't give up. Keep making music and letting us know. We'll keep checking and voting and bringing bands/artists on the show.
Thanks to all of you that contribute to the local music and arts, and for making our station a part of the scene with your viewership and support.
Sincerely,
Jake
